A police car has been written off after a yellow pickup truck was rammed into it "at speed", officers have said.
Wiltshire Police said patrolling officers approached the truck because they suspected that two men were using it to attempt to steal a vehicle.
The force said the men drove off after reversing the truck into the police car in Downton, near Salisbury, at about 00:35 BST on Friday, leaving it in an "unusable condition".
Officers hope to find the driver of a black car that passed by just minutes before the incident on Downton high street. They believe the driver could help them to identify the men.
